About Us.

JK in ActionThe Kumon Center of Howell has been helping children in the Howell area excel in reading and math for over 10 years. We moved to our current location in June of 2007. The center has been under new ownership since September of 2008.

Kumon offers a method of learning that provides individualized, self-paced instruction in math and reading.  Our goal for all children is to help them reach and exceed their school grade level.  We feel that the potential of children is limited only by our expectations and assumptions.  Kumon develops a child’s ability to think, learn, and concentrate.  It also encourages a child’s independence and perseverance.

Kumon has over 4 million students working in centers in Africa, Asia, North America, South America, the Middle East, Oceania and Europe.  It is the largest after-school program in the world.

Director, Connie Schmidt Kirman

Since September 2008 the Howell Center has been under the guidance of Connie Schmidt Kirman, long-time resident of Howell. She has a Bachelor of Connie Schmidt Kirman, DirectorScience from The College of New Jersey School of Business where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and was awarded second academic honors in management. In 1998 she earned a Masters in Business Administration from Monmouth University with honors.

After working in graduate education at both The College of New Jersey and Lehigh University, Connie became a fully licensed Kumon instructor and took over the Howell Center where her elementary aged children were attending for math studies. Ms. Connie has a successful track record of guiding students to working above grade level where they will reap the full rewards of their hard work.

Ms. Connie has recently written two articles for "Little Thinkers" and was invited to give a presentation on the "Importance of Mathematics in the Development of All Students" to a group of parents. She volunteers her time to the Howell Alliance, Howell Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation and Monmouth County Literacy volunteers. She has recently completed the certification process to volunteer tutor adult basic literacy and ESL students. She enjoys inspiring a love of learning in children while helping them become fantastic students.
