Regardless of nationality, as soon as a student completes the 8th grade, the clock starts ticking. From that very moment the child has approximately -
…Two Million Minutes until high school graduation…
...Two Million Minutes to build their intellectual foundation…
...Two Million Minutes to prepare for college and ultimately career…
...Two Million Minutes to go from a teenager to an adult...
How a student spends their Two Million Minutes - in class, at home studying, playing sports, working, sleeping, socializing or just goofing off -- will affect their economic prospects for the rest of their lives.
This film takes a deeper look at how the three superpowers of the 21st Century - China, India and the United States - are preparing their students for the future. As we follow two students - a boy and a girl - from each of these countries, we compose a global snapshot of education, from the viewpoint of kids preparing for their future. http://www.2mminutes.com

On Wednesday, September 29th at 7 pm we will be presenting a free workshop for parents at the Howell Township Library. Homework is an essential building block for students on many levels but can also be a source of conflict in your family routine. We will share tips with parents about helping students ages 6-12 develop essential "success skills" that will help them improve their grades, promote peace in the home, and help students take responsibility for their learning.
On September 3, 2010, Connie Schmidt Kirman will be presenting at a Howell Township Chamber of Commerce Breakfast on "The Importance of Advanced Study in Math" with a focus on the importance to small (and large) businesses.
In cooperation with Barnes & Noble of Howell, THINK Newspaper and the Howell Township Department of Parks and Recreation, we are sponsoring a summer long FREE reading program. The goal of the program is to encourage students from the area to read for pleasure throughout the summer vacation.
